My Observations
I have sewn on / off for several years. I’ve hardly ever really focused on this specific skill though. My familiarization with each machine has been limited by getting the task accessible completed. In doing this, I’ve actively sewn on roughly 5 or 6 different machines multiple times. I am not really a complete beginner in terms of machine sewing, however I am a complete beginner with regards to embroidery (beyond simple hand stitching). I found this machine because I’ve some patches at heart that I’d like to create. If you’re enthusiastic about following along with me as I find out about this and work out how to make patches with integrated circuits, you are invited to follow my own youtube channel. You will have more concise and clear tutorials published on Make: as I work things out as well.

Easy threading

Threading a needle is a pain in the butt. I understand I’m just being truly a whiny overacting goofball relating to this, however the auto threading system upon this machine is glorious. Yes, I thread needles when I hand sew, nonetheless it is always a lttle bit frustrating. I’ve big clumsy shaky hands and, just in case you haven’t noticed, needles are tiny. This machine threads the needle for you personally with the easy pull of a lever. That is awesome.

On a far more serious note, auto threading is really important to those persons who’ve physical impairments; persons with Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, decreased vision, as well as just, as my grandmother said “a bad case to be really old”.

Large stitch library

These machines employ a large library of stitches included in them. While my older machine (also a brother) could possibly be adjusted for a couple different stitches, this new machine includes a plethora of options within my fingertips. Some are simply just for better overall look, but others are for specific purposes. The example I used above, of button holes, is an effective one. I could simply adapt the size and hit a button which machine will sew a button hole.

The ease that someone can do moderately complex businesses on this machine without needing to have the skill developed is rather important. This signifies that Brother is checking this whole area of earning to persons who’ve previously not had the opportunity to participate. The simplicity makes this machine incredibly accessible to newbies.

CNC Embroidery

This is the key feature I purchased this machine for. I would like to have the ability to make custom patches with embedded circuits. I’ll skip over the circuit part for the present time, which will come later in a well documented tutorial. Lets just speak about embroidery.

This machine helps it be extremely simple to embroider. You load your design, load your thread and bobbin, and hit a button. It’ll stitch a color, then pause and tell you firmly to change to another color before you press the button to proceed. The procedure is painless and the device is rather quiet, roughly si
