The Air Max 90 was initially released in 1990 and was at first referred to as the Air Max III until 2000 when it had been retro’d and renamed the Air Max 90 following the year it released. Legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield first introduced the ‘Infrared’ colorway which now is just about the most iconic colorway to date. The Air Max 90 is an integral part of Tinker’s Air Max legacy which is infamous to be the first with the exposed air bubble. What I really like most concerning this silhouette are the condition and overall structure. The overlays and how you can color block different panels to create different colorways. In addition, it happens to be the best Air Max silhouette.

My very first couple of Air Max 90 were the 2010 ‘Infrared’. I recall purchasing them at the Nike Running store at the Grove in LA. That’s when my obsession with Air Max’s sparked. It had been like love initially sight. After those, I recall getting GR pairs and choosing the ‘Volt’ colorway in 2012 with $100 that my father gave me for Christmas. It’s so cool to be able to reminisce on the best silhouette. My grail would need to be either the Bacon, Atmos Duck Camo or Atmos Black Tiger.

Styling:

You really can style Air Max 90s anyway you want. The shoe is such a classic that you could either dress it up or dress it down. Whether you put them on with oversized pants and tee or with a girly dress through the summer, you’re bound to still look fresh.

Sizing & Fit:

I’d say the Air Max 90 are true to size. I’m usually a women’s 8.5 and these fit me perfectly. Not tight, not loose. Definitely go together with your true size.

I find Air Max 90s to be one of the most comfortable AM silhouettes. In comparison with others, they are definitely up top on comfort. With it being the 30th anniversary of the AM90, a whole lot of different colorways have already been coming out this season and I’ve of course been picking right up pairs and honestly, they seem to be to have gotten convenient than older pairs.

Care:

Similar to my other shoes, I think it is better to just put them on rather than clean them after each use. I love when my shoes get naturally dirty since it gives them character. Personally I find Air Max look better when they’re dirty and worn in (in addition they get convenient the more you put them on). The mesh tends to start out getting dirty prior to the remaining shoe and even though it sort of bugs me initially, I learn to think it’s great during all its stages of life.

Obviously the AM90 was introduced in 1990 and following on from the AM1 the look was impressive as a result of it’s increased air unit and launched with the bold OG Infrared colorway. Through the years the shoe has changed slightly with regards to the air unit (airbag) size, the look and the materials all with running performance at heart.

The most recent innovation for the AM90 may be the ‘recraft’ to celebrate the 30th anniversary, the silhouette was altered slightly to create it more streamlined and take it back again to its more OG form, the most noticeable change may be the toebox condition and the lowered mudguard.

I will always have a location in my own heart for 90’s because they were the first sneakers I purchased for myself, the look is timeless and the comfort is 10/10.

My first ever couple of AM90’s were a White/Black/Obsidian pair from the youngsters portion of my high-street sports shop – I still keep these things kicking about somewhere but they’re definitely beaters now as I’ve had them for like 13 years.

The grails AM90’s I’ve in my collection will be the Valentine’s 02′, Infrareds 05′ & the King of the Mountain 08’s. What I still want will be the AM90 x DQM ‘Bacon’ 04′, the AM90 x Dizzee Rascal 09′ and the ‘Courier Denim’.

Styling:

Just how I style my kicks really will depend on my mood, and for me personally, sneakers go with everything so that’s never a concern. My whole thing is ‘STAY COZY’ so usually you will discover me in some sort of oversized joggers/tracksuit situation, but if I am going for a far more smart everyday look, then I’ll wear a straight leg trouser (like Carhartt pants) with a hoodie and an extended smart jacket. In the summertime though, it’s straight-up legs out so a dress and 90’s, or cycling shorts and oversized tee with 90’s. I love wearing monochrome day-to-day because it’s easy, but easily want a pop of color I’ll pick some colorful 90’s and also have an accent from the sneakers in my own outfit to balance it out (usually my bags – I really like color coordinating).

Sizing & Fit:

I’ve always found Air Max 90’s fit true-to-size. The one thing I’d say is when you have small feet like me then you can certainly probably cop some grade school or kids kicks. I usually have to go a half size up if I’m buying GS as the overall fit is more narrow and smaller, but yeah for a Women’s shoe then ‘true to size’ usually works.

In comparison to other Air Max models I’d say comfort wise the AM90 is a higher contender. They aren’t as heavy and chunky as an AM95, are somewhat wider and have somewhat more spring compared to the AM1. The AM90 is a wonderful middle ground shoe as an AM93 – not too chunky, and enough cushioning on the inner to aid your foot. The air unit is big enough that you still feel bouncy & light on your own feet but maybe less than you’ll an AM97, AM270 and even the newer AM720. For me personally the AM90 is somewhat more subtle, it’s an iconic design (and I’m old school so that’s my vibe) and somewhat more practical to walk around in. I’d provide them with an over-all 8.5/10 on comfort!

In comparison to other shoes generally speaking comfort-wise, well you cannot really compare! For me personally the air unit is everything and I’m a Nike girl through and through so I’m always naturally drawn towards Air Max. Almost every other shoes just aren’t as bouncy/cushioned/comfortable, so when you’re playing around London all day that is clearly a priority. 🙂

Care:

I don’t have a particular way to look after my 90’s, I really do the same for all my kicks. EASILY just desire a quick tidy up (removing that post-rave/festival grime and muck ha!) i quickly draw for a few Jason Markk Quick Wipes – simple to use, super effective and you could take them on the run. If I should do a deep clean i quickly get yourself a few pairs at the same time and utilize the Jason Markk shoe cleaner with a difficult brush or a toothbrush for the more delicate fabrics. JM has applied for a few of the maddest stains therefore i swear by it!

The Nike Air Max 90 silhouette is very iconic. Because the first release in 1987 it’s been among the most-liked Nike silhouettes among sneakerheads. What I love most about the Air Max 90 may be the classic design which stayed popular for so very long now. Also, I liked that they released a number of of the initial colorways only a couple of weeks ago, which I found for myself too.

My first couple of Air Max 90’s were a beige pair, not really a limited edition but I liked it a whole lot though and I still own it somewhere in my own collection. The pair continues to be in good shape and I sometimes still put them on. I was happy that I possibly could get hands on among the Off White x Nike Air Max 90’s Desert, that is also my favorite couple of 90’s right now. But my grail couple of 90’s will be the first white colorway of the Off White x Nike 90’s.

Styling:

The Air Max 90’s are such classic sneakers for me personally and they can really be worn in a wide variety of ways. Personally, I dress more within an everyday style so my go-to outfit will be pairing the 90s with some pants, a tee and the blazer or a hoodie. EASILY want to dress them more I’ll pair them with a dress or fancy pants.

Sizing & Fit:

For me, the Air Max 90 fit true-to-size and so are among probably the most comfortable Nike silhouettes, I could wear them the whole day. In Nike sneakers, I have a US6.5 or US7 according to what sizes can be found, but both fit great. I’d recommend buying your regular Nike size, it will definitely fit. I believe Nike shoes, generally, do fit somewhat tight so a half size up is often fine too.

In comparison to other Air Max silhouettes they are actually comfy too. Personally, I favor the AM1 over the AM90, but both are super comfortable. Generally, all Nike Air Max models are super soft and will be worn for extended periods of time. In comparison to other shoes I usually prefer Nike models because they always feel good on-feet.

Care:

I just execute a regular clean using sneaker specific cleaning products much like all my other sneakers. If there’s simply a little i’m all over this them, I’ll use some sneaker wipes to completely clean them instead. For sneaker cleaning and prot
